Rajeswari- Down the Memory Lane:

Smt.Suhasini Mohanty& Biswa Bandhu Mohanty- A-43, Utkal Royal Residency

“I came, I saw, I conquered “. - said Julies Caesar. Rajeswari came, saw and conquered. During her short innings in URR Campus won every one with her simplicity, softness, amiability and sincerity in words and action .She had divine grace in her smiling and pleasant face.

“All the world is a stage .And all the men and women merely players. They have exits and their entrances”-said Shakespeare. All of us shall leave the stage after our respective role is over. Rajeswari departed from the world stage after performing her role as daughter, sister, wife and mother so well. She used to accompany Shri Banambar Patra , her husband ,wherever he went in his business trips ,family functions and pleasure tours. But she has left so suddenly, leaving Sri Patra alone in the journey of life . It is stated that for every man’s success, there is a woman behind. Indeed, for the rise of Sri Patra in business, social activities and relationship- building, Rajeswari was solely instrumental. She was his support, strength and partner in his progress in all fields.

She was very hospitable. Whenever we visited her house, she used to offer delicious dishes, particularly “Dahi Bada”. She was very affectionate and friendly. She would have her lively presence in the ladies group meet daily in the evening in the URR garden. She was ever warm, open and joyful .There was no iota of ego, anger, envy and hurting words in her persona. We will miss her in the group meet in the days to come.

She used to have daily walk in the morning in URR Campus. The other day on 17 Th December while she was walking alone in the campus, Mr. Mohanty told her in lighter vein “You have become Goan lady .You are not seen now-a-days .You are always in Goa.” She smilingly replied “ No ,No, we are very much in URR and we will continue to be of URR.” After a few days, alas! We lost the loving member of URR family.

She was very regular in participating in the meetings of the URR Senior Citizens’ Forum. For the last 23rd meeting of the Forum, scheduled on 18 th December, she had personally confirmed her attendance to me (Mrs.Mohanty) on 17th December. On 18th at about 11 AM, while I (Mrs.Mohanty) was doing my prayers, Rajeswari talked to Mr. Mohanty over Intercom, regretting her inability to attend the meeting due to her sudden illness. Mr. Mohanty enquired details regarding her state of health. Who knew, that would be her last words for us! We missed her in the Forum meeting that evening. She was rushed to Apollo Hospital the same night and thereafter never returned!

She had endeared herself with everyone around. Her exit has created a vacuum not only in Sri Patro’s family circles but also in URR campus and residents’ families’ .We cherish her memories. We (me and Mr.Mohanty), pray for her soul to rest in peace in Heavenly abode. A person does not live in years , but in his/her deeds. She will continue to live with us in our memories in the years to come.
